From Death to Destiny

The gospel is not an invitation to improve your life. It is an invitation to exchange it.

Scripture teaches us that life in Christ begins with a death. Not a physical death, but the laying down of the old self so that new life can rise. Jesus Himself said that unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But when it dies, it produces much fruit.

This is the heart of the Christian faith. When we hold on to our lives, we lose them. When we give our lives to Christ, His life becomes our life.

His Death Gave Us Rights

The death of Jesus was not symbolic. It was legal. Scripture explains that where there is a testament, there must be a death. Because Jesus died, an inheritance was released. Through Him, we are now co-heirs, seated with Christ, sharing in the abundant life He secured.

Jesus did not come merely so that we could exist. He came so that we could live abundantly.

He left heaven as the Father’s seed, was buried in the earth, and rose again as the bread of life. In the same way, when a believer lays down their life for Christ, that surrender produces life not only within them, but through them, for others.

Baptism and the Power of Identification

Baptism is a powerful declaration of identification with Christ. When a believer goes into the water, they are identifying with Christ’s death. When they come out, they are identifying with His resurrection.

Scripture teaches that we are buried with Him through baptism into death, and raised with Him to walk in the newness of life. This means that the old man is crucified, and a new life is given.

Baptism does not save us. Faith in Jesus Christ alone saves. Baptism shows that we already believe. It is obedience flowing from faith.

Death, Sin, and the Grave Have No Power

One of the greatest revelations of the gospel is this: death has no power, sin has no power, and the grave has no power.

Jesus took the power of sin and death upon Himself. The same Spirit who raised Him from the dead now lives inside the believer. Because of this, sin no longer has dominion, and death is no longer something to fear. For the believer, death is not an end. It is a doorway.

We are no longer slaves to the flesh. We are led by the Spirit. We are no longer governed by emotions or impulses, but by the life of God within us.

A New Identity and a New Family

When someone comes to Christ, they do not become a better version of who they were. They become someone new.

The old has passed away. The new has come.

Baptism also marks our connection to the body of Christ. We are baptised into one body, not as individuals competing for significance, but as members with purpose. Every part matters. Every calling matters. The body functions best when each part plays its role in unity and love.

Living Under Grace

To live under grace does not mean to live without boundaries. It means to live empowered by the Spirit to walk in obedience. Grace does not produce lawlessness. Grace produces freedom to live righteously.

Faith becomes the measure of our life. Whatever cannot be done in faith leads us away from God. Whatever is done in faith draws us closer to Him.

From Death to Destiny

Baptism is a marker moment, but the journey continues beyond the water. It marks the beginning of a Spirit-led life, a life of surrender, obedience, and resurrection power.

From that point forward, we choose daily to live from the life of Christ within us. We choose to walk not by the flesh, but by the Spirit. 

We choose to live from death into destiny.

And in Christ, that destiny is abundant life.
