Living with a Thankful Heart: A Call to Worship
Gratitude is a powerful force. It shifts our focus from what we lack to the abundance of God’s goodness in our lives. As believers, we are called to live with a heart of thanksgiving—not just when things are going well, but in every season.
This past Sunday at Empower Church, we were reminded of this truth as we worshipped together and reflected on God’s faithfulness. We lifted up a song of praise, declaring:
👉 Goodbye yesterday, I’m living in the light of a new day!
👉 I have decided to follow Jesus—the cross before me, the world behind me!
👉 We love You, Lord. We trust You, Lord. We need You, Lord!
No matter where you find yourself today, take a moment to pause and thank God. Even in the midst of challenges, His goodness remains. Psalm 37:4 tells us, “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” When we shift our focus onto Him, we begin to see His hand at work in every part of our lives.
Why Thanksgiving Matters
1️⃣ Thanksgiving shifts our perspective.
When we choose gratitude, we stop focusing on what’s missing and start recognizing how much God has already provided.
2️⃣ Worship opens the door to breakthrough.
There is power in lifting up the name of Jesus. Praise silences the enemy and reminds us of the victory we have in Christ.
3️⃣ Faith grows in a thankful heart.
The more we thank God for what He has done, the more we trust Him for what He will do!
How to Cultivate a Heart of Gratitude
✅ Start your day with thanksgiving. Instead of focusing on worries, begin by thanking God for His love, grace, and provision.
✅ Write it down. Keep a gratitude journal and list three things you are thankful for every day.
✅ Turn your prayers into praise. Before asking God for more, take time to thank Him for what He has already done.
✅ Share your testimony. Your story of God’s goodness could be the encouragement someone else needs!
As a church, we believe in the power of testimony. Has God done something amazing in your life? Share it with us in the comments or send us a message—we’d love to celebrate with you!
Let’s continue to lift up the name of Jesus and walk in thanksgiving every day!
