“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart…” – Luke 18:1

There’s a reason Jesus opened this parable the way He did: “Men always ought to pray.”
Not occasionally. Not when it’s convenient. Not when we’re desperate.
Always.

In Luke 18, we meet a widow—a woman without power, position or privilege. And yet, she moves the hand of a corrupt judge through relentless persistence. Not because he feared God. Not because he respected her. But because she refused to quit.

Jesus gives us this story to show us the power of unrelenting prayer. And then He asks a confronting question:
“When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Not success. Not influence. Faith.
And faith is revealed in prayer.

YOU PRAY FROM THE SEAT – NOT TOWARDS IT

Ephesians 2:6 tells us that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places.
That changes everything.

Too often, believers pray as if they’re trying to earn access. But true prayer begins from a place of access. You’re not trying to climb your way into God’s presence—you already have a seat at the table. And from that place, you legislate. You intercede. You stand in authority, not anxiety.

BUILDING A PRAYER LIFE THAT LASTS

You don’t stumble into a powerful prayer life—you train into it.
Here’s how:

1. Prayer Must Be a Priority

“When you pray, go into your room, shut the door…” (Matt 6:6)
Private prayer produces public power. If the door is always open to distraction, your spirit will remain shallow.

2. You Need a Set Time of Prayer

Daniel prayed at 3pm and encountered Gabriel (Dan 9:21).
The Holy Spirit fell at 9am (Acts 2:15).
Cornelius received divine instruction at 3pm (Acts 10:3).
Your intentionality becomes Heaven’s invitation.

3. Find a Place of Prayer

Jesus often withdrew to solitary places to pray (Mark 1:35).
Your environment influences your engagement.

4. Use the Model Jesus Gave Us

Prayer is not about performance—it’s about pattern.
Use the Lord’s Prayer as your guide:

  • Praise – “Our Father… hallowed be Your name”
  • Priority – “Your Kingdom come”
  • Provision – “Give us this day our daily bread”
  • Pardon – “Forgive us…”
  • Power – “Lead us not into temptation”
  • Praise again – “For Yours is the Kingdom…”

PRAYER IS THE SEED TO POWER

Hebrews 2:1 warns us not to drift from what we’ve heard.Drifting doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when we stop praying.

Let me leave you with this:

  • Learning is the seed of listening.
  • Knowledge is the seed for a desire to change.
  • Honour is the seed for access.
  • Dishonour is the seed for closed doors.
  • And prayer… prayer is the seed to power.

Don’t lose heart.
Pray unceasingly.
Live from the seat you’ve already been given.Blessings
