Prayer is not just communication with God—it’s communion. It’s not a ritual; it’s a relationship. And if we are honest, many of us have allowed our prayer lives to shrink to nothing more than a wishlist. We pray for our breakthrough, our needs, our promotion—but forget that the King is dreaming for the world.
In Luke 7, we read of a woman—broken, labelled a sinner—who entered a room filled with religious leaders. She didn’t come to impress them. She came to pour out love. While others evaluated Jesus with their thoughts, she worshipped with her tears. That moment wasn’t about performance. It was about passion.
And I have to ask you, Church:
Have we become professionals at observing how others love Jesus, while forgetting how to love Him ourselves?
Love Doesn’t Point Fingers—It Washes Feet
Jesus rebuked Simon, not the woman. Why? Because Simon’s heart was filled with judgement. Hers was filled with love. When we fall out of love with Jesus, it becomes far too easy to find fault with people. But when our hearts are burning for Him again, we begin to see the world the way He sees it.
The Kingdom of God is not a private club for the polished and perfect. It’s a hospital for the broken, a home for the orphan, and a training ground for the called. And if our prayers start and end with ourselves, we’ve missed the point.
The Kingdom Is Bigger Than Our Comfort
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He began with, “Our Father…” That word “our” is deeply prophetic. It reminds us that we are not designed to walk alone. That we are part of a family. That our prayers must include the community, the nation, and the next generation.
Satan is an orphan, and he works to make orphans out of believers. But we are not orphans—we are citizens of the Kingdom. Citizens have rights, responsibilities, and authority. You have a territory to steward, and a King to represent.
So, what are you dreaming for in prayer? Are you dreaming for revival in your family? Your neighbourhood? This nation?
The Church Must Dream Again
I am convinced of this: God is not looking for full churches. He’s looking for surrendered hearts. A church in love with Jesus. A people willing to cut their neighbour’s grass, pray for their street, and carry the burden of a broken South Africa on their knees.
This week at Empower, we prayed boldly, we declared fiercely, and we stood in unity for our nation. Why? Because as long as the Church is here, South Africa will live. As long as God’s people lift their voices, Heaven will respond.
The world does not need a louder Church. It needs a loving Church. And love is loud in action. Love evangelises. Love intercedes. Love builds schools for children and lifts entire communities.
That is our dream. That is our call.
And that is what we want to see in prayer.
Let This Be Your Prayer:
“Father, let Your kingdom come. Let Your will be done—on earth, in South Africa, in my life—as it is in Heaven. Use me. Send me. I am Yours.”
Let’s not just attend church.
Let’s become the Church.
And let’s dream together again—for a nation healed, a people restored, and a future filled with the Spirit of the Lord. With boldness and love,
Prophet Gebhardt Berndt
